Banana-Bread Smoothie

It's smoothie season! I love a good smoothie - my standard is Strawberry-Banana, which always tastes good...but it's a little boring. So I started brainstorming, and came up with a list (okay, a 3 page spreadsheet) of desserts and sweet treats that I thought would translate well in a smoothie. So this was my first trial, and what a success - this may have actually been the best smoothie I've ever even tasted! I can't wait to try some of the others on my list - Rice Pudding, Cinnamon-Bun, Lemon Cake, and I'm really excited to try a Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie Smoothie! I hope that one works out because I have an over-active rhubarb plant that goes to waste every year. Any other suggestions? Send them my way!

Banana-Bread Smoothie (makes 1 x 500 ml serving)
small handful walnuts
1 tbsp rolled oats (I soaked mine with water, but not necessary)
1/2 cup vanilla soymilk (rice or cow, whatever floats your boat)
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 large, ripe, frozen banana
3 ice cubes
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp honey
cinnamon & nutmeg to taste

Blitz up the walnuts (and oats if using dry) first, then add remaining ingredients a few at a time until you have the most delicious smootie ever created! Well done. Now enjoy - you deserve it!

I'm sure Doreen would love your extra rhubarb if you don't end up using all of it!
